How can you settle your municipal tax account?

We wish to remind you that it is possible for you to pay your municipal tax account or your tax notice on transfer duties according to the following methods:

  • By post-dated cheque or money order by mail;
  • At most financial institutions or by using the internet banking services;
  • By direct payment, cheque, Interac or cash at Pointe-Claire City Hall.

DUES DATES
 
If the total amount of municipal property taxes in an account is $300 or more, it may be paid in two equal instalments. In all cases, however, ratepayers may pay in a lump sum.

The first instalment is due on February 6th, 2012, and the second on June 4th, 2012.

Payments received after those dates carry added interest rate charges of 10% per year calculated daily and a penalty of 5% of the principal amount, per year calculated daily.

Duties on transfers of immovables (R.S.Q., c.D-15.1)

Every municipality must collect duties on the transfer of any immovable situated within its territory, according to the following rates:
  • 0.5%: On that part of the basis of imposition which does not exceed $50 000;
  • 1.0%: On that part of the basis of imposition which is in exceed of $50 000 but does not exceed $250 000;
  • 1.5%: On that part of the basis of imposition which exceeds $250 000.

Tariffs according to dogs
  • Cost to obtain a licence is $25.00 per year.
  • Cost for replacement licence is $5.00
  • The licence is renewed automatically every year, in May. If you do not wish to renew the licence, you have to contact City Hall.
