The polling day will be Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The advance poll will be Sunday, October 25, from noon to 8 p.m.

All polling stations at the advance poll will be accessible to persons with reduced mobility.

Entry on the list of electors

To vote, you must be entered on the list of electors

Starting October 5, a notice of entry on the list of electors will be mailed to all electors. It will indicate the names of all persons domiciled at each address.

Be vigilant:

  1. Do your first and last names appear on the notice? And spelled correctly?
  2. Do the names of persons listed on the notice correspond to the person domiciled at your address?
  3. If you notice any errors or omissions, you must report them to the board of revisors to enable you to vote.

Your spouse (including the common-law partner), a relative or a person living with you may also file an application for entry, correction or striking off, with the two following documents:

  • one bearing your family and first names, plus your date of birth (birth certificate, halth insurance card, hospital card, Canadian Passport, etc.);
  • one bearing your family and first names, and your home address (driver's licence, Hydro-Québec, phone, cable or municipal taxes bill, lease, school report card, etc.).

Application for entry, correction or striking off must be filed with the board of revisors, at the dates and times shown below:

Wednesday, October 14: 10 a.m. to 13 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Thursday, October 15:  10 a.m. to 13 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Reminder

If your name is entered on the list of electors, you will receive a reminder by mail, during the week of October 19.

This reminder will specify the address of your polling place, as well as the names of candidates.

Bring your reminder when you come to vote. It is not obligatory but it will help election officers to quickly retrieve your name on the list.

To vote

You must produce one of the following documents:  

  • health insurance card issued in plastic form by the Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec, or
  • driver's licence or probationary licence issued in plastic form by the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec, or
  • Canadian passeport, or
  • certificate of Indian status, or
  • Canadian Forces identity card.

Results

The votes will be counted when the polling places close on Sunday, November 1, at 8 p.m. and the results will be announced by the returning officer in the council room of the City of Pointe-Claire the same evening. The results will also be available the day after at www.ville.pointe-claire.qc.ca - click on 2009 Election on the left.

To work on polling day, you must fill a form; please present yourself at the office of the returning officer located at 451,  Saint-Jean Boulevard, Pointe-Claire, 2nd floor, during opening hours - Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 13 p.m. to 4: 30 p.m.
